Licensr Docs

Licensr licenses your software and bills on your Stripe, Mercado Pago, PayPal, or Razorpay account. Your customers buy on a hosted page, get a license key by email, and your product checks that key with a small API (or an SDK).

You do not need to write a billing backend or subscribe to payment webhooks. You do need to call validate (and usually activate) from your product.

Quick start takes you from zero to a working license check, including how selling works, a free test license, and the license screen your product needs.

Pick a path

I sell the product (admin, no code)

  1. Connect a payment provider — Stripe, Mercado Pago, PayPal, or Razorpay.
  2. Admin panel manual — create a product and a plan, copy the API key.
  3. Host your download on your own website, then link it to /buy/<your-slug>. After payment, Licensr emails the license key. Licensr does not host plugin files.
  4. Someone else builds your product? Not a developer? Start here explains the last step and what to send your developer.

I integrate the product (app, plugin, or extension)

  1. Follow the Quick start to create a product, a plan, a Client API key, and a test license.
  2. Open the guide for what you build: WordPress, browser extension, audio plugin, desktop app, game engine or mod, Adobe or Figma, VS Code or productivity, trading indicator, CAD or architecture, or any language.
  3. Three calls do the job: activate (customer clicks Activate), validate (right after, at launch, and daily), deactivate (customer clicks Deactivate). Unlock only when valid is true.
